　　The RDFZ ICC Summer Concert was called "Stars," and the student singers lived up to this billing with their shining performances! Held on Thursday afternoon, June 28th, 2013 on the first floor of the RDFZ School Library, the standing-room-only crowd was a good mix of classmates, teachers, parents, and other music lovers. From the opening drum performance to the rousing group performance of "Fabulous" at the close, the concert was at times moving, dramatic, and just plain fun! Every one of the singers performed beautifully and most were accompanied by strong performances from other classmates on the piano, flute, or guitar.

　　Though I enjoyed all of the performances, two of the highlights for me were the upbeat songs "The Inn Keeper's Song" from Les Miserables and "Macavity" from Cats. Jackie Fu and Summer Li were both musically brilliant and delightfully funny in their portrayal of the inn keeper and his wife, while Ginny Shao and Cindy Guan pranced about as very convincing felines introducing the character Macavity to the audience. All students involved in the planning, hosting, and organizing of the event should feel very proud of their hard work, as well. Thanks to every student's combined efforts, the concert was a resounding success!

　　This event was a great opportunity for the hard-working music students to share their passion for song with their peers and teachers, and the parents on hand for the concert were perhaps the most excited of all. This concert was a welcome end to teaching for this academic year, and a chance for students to have some fun before getting down to serious studying for their final exams next week. I look forward to future ICC Student Concerts, and I hope you'll join us for the next one!
